Life in Beirut nowadays-Solidere

I have been in Solidere non stop since last Wednesday. Only last night and the night before have I gone home in Metn area to be with my wife and three kids. Today I will leave early-God willing-to be with my eldest who celebrates his first and last birthday in fear. He told his younger brother this morning that the gift he expects from him is not to cry and nag and disturb his mom. He doesnt know who HA or Israel are and he shouldn't. He knows Winnie the Pooh and he loves getting on Google to get the newest games. In his name-Mickey-and in the name of every Hassan, Ali, Mohamed, Fatme, Marie, Nicole, Alain, Shlomo, David, Racquel, Maroun, Nicolas, Christian, and many others, who still do not know if they are Lebanese, Palestinian, Israeli, American, Christian, Moslem, Jew, Hindu or atheist, I implore anyone who might have a say to let them discover their innocence. I held in my arms yesterday a refugee toddler and I assure you that he smiled and cried and laughed just like my Marco. Leave your beliefs at the door and listen to your kids and I am sure that they will lead you to a better life.
